Police said a 27-year-old man was charged with attempted murder after he attacked both of his parents after a fight over some roast chicken and drugs.
Seneca police said they were called to a home on Shorecrest Drive Thursday evening by a couple who said their son, Bradley Hayne Williams, had assaulted both of them.
The mother said that her son became angry when she turned off the oven in which he was cooking chicken because he had fallen asleep. She said he threw the chicken away when he woke up, and when she made a comment about wasting food, he became violent and struck her in the head. She said she tried to get the phone to call police, but her son took it and threw it outside.
The father, who has had back surgery that left him partially disabled, went into the bedroom to call police on another phone, and his wife said Williams knocked his father onto the bed and wrapped the cord of a heating pad around his neck. The father was able to get away, and got out of the front door before Williams slammed the door shut, keeping his mother inside.
The mother said at that point, Williams threatened her with a machete and struck her with the handle as he demanded she go get him some Xanax.
When she finally agreed she would get him Xanax, he let her leave the house.
Police said when they arrived they saw bruises and scratches on both parents. Officers spotted Williams driving in the area and pulled him over.
Williams is charged with two counts of attempted murder.
